DECEMBER - FAMILY OF ROTARY MONTH

Club members visited booths at Ward 87 (Lake Market - Southern Avenue area) and distributed publicity banners and gifts for the children. The turnout of children was fairly low, attributed to possible insufficient awareness in the area. Nevertheless a follow-up drive will be there on Monday, Tuesday & Friday where the corporation representatives visit individual households in the ward. Members felt that distributing awareness pamphlets at the door-to-door announcement before an NID or SNID would be more effective in getting more children immunised.

PILOT PROJECT - CORPORATE MEMBERSHIP

RCCR has been assigned the Pilot Project of Corporate Membership by Rotary International for a period of three years starting 1 July 2011. We are one of the 200 Rotary clubs worldwide and the only club in RI District 3291 to be awarded this pilot project.

PROVIDING SURGICAL EQUIPMENT TO EYE HOSPITAL

The club is executing a Matching Grant project worth eleven lakhs INR with Rotary Club of Grorud, Norway, RI District 2310, to procure a Green Laser Retinoscopy equipment to treat blindness of diabetic patients, which is being provided to N.B. Memorial Eye Hospital, Garia, run by Vision Welfare Society.

PROJECT PAUSHI

Assisting Antyaday Anath Ashram, an orphanage at Paushi village near Contai, East Midnapore, West Bengal, run by a lone individual, Balaram Karan. We are striving to make the ashram completely self-reliant.

BUILDING 15 SANITARY TOILETS

The club will be executing a Helping Grant project worth Two lakhs INR with the help of Eastern India Rotary Welfare Trust, to provide low-cost sanitary toilets at premises of households in the interiors of villages, thus improving the sanitation of the area and lessen chances of diseases.
